Drugspotting : LSD/Magic Mushrooms (7 of 9)
LSD (Trips or Acid) is a drug which changes what you see and feel. It is usually sold as little pieces of card with pictures on them, called ‘Trips’. There are many different types: MBS, Strawberries, Batman, Dragons and Keywings. Trips are swallowed and don’t take very long to work, but they last for up to 12 hours. Colours seem brighter, shapes and sizes of things change and you feel different. This might sound like fun, but you could have a ‘bad trip’, which causes depression, dizziness, and panic. Doing dangerous things while on a Trip is a big risk. In some cases LSD can bring on mental illness.
‘Magic mushrooms’ contain a drug called psilocybin, which has effects similar to LSD. They are usually eaten. A ‘bad trip’ and depression afterwards, can be bad. The main risk is eating the wrong kind of mushroom, which can kill. Being found with LSD can lead to an official police caution, a big fine or prison. Giving LSD to a friend is seen as supplying, which is treated as a very serious offence.
