Crack cocaine is cocaine powder that’s been made into ‘rocks’ to be smoked. Smoking takes the drug to the brain in the quickest way, but the rush will only last about five minutes and the user may be left wanting more. Crack cocaine costs a fortune and causes big problems for a lot of users. Continued use can also cause paranoia, hallucinations and loss of reality. High doses of cocaine can kill. |

Heroin - brown, skag, or smack - can be injected, sniffed or smoked. It slows the body down and gives a relaxed feeling (once you get used to the vomiting). People sometimes use heroin to ‘come down’ off other drugs, like crack. When people use heroin a lot they become addicted and need larger amounts to feed their habit. If an addict stops taking heroin they go through what is called “cold turkey” suffering from pains, sweating and shaking. Using heroin is dangerous and using needles adds to the risk, which can lead to HIV and Hepatitis. Taking too much can lead to overdose and death. |
